forstell for possessing porn, a lot of it, thousands of videos of children were found in his san jose apartment. >> some of the pornography that mr. forstell was sharing involved younger children, the youngest ones we saw were about 4 years old, up to about 9, the majority in the 5 to 7-year-old range. >> reporter: even more disturbing, the children in the same images were the same ages as the children he taught in seaside, south of santa cruz. that is not the only school forstell worked at. he was also a substitute from 2009 until february of this year. during that time he filled in at 11 different elementary schools and middle schools in the district, including a 5-month assignment, teaching third grade here at clyde arbuckle elementary school. >> he was a substitute teacher here and applied for substitute service in 2009. we do a background check, and a fingerprint check. so we did that, and he cleared that. those fingerprints go to a department of justice, so at a time of hiring that is done. >> reporter: the investigation continues, we tried to talk to him at his apartment but no

if you happen to work here in san jose, the minimum wage jumps $2 from $8 to $10 an hour. one restaurant here in san jose starting paying their workers that $10 an hour back in december. the owner who owns pizza my heart in san jose says he wants to see how the new pay increase works and if it impacts the bottom line and admits prices on the menu had to increase when wages increased. other businesses say they may have to make similar adjustments, charging customers more in the end. the san jose minimum wage increase was approved by voters back in november and at pizza my heart, the transition, so far, it has been government. >> we raised prices roughly 3 percent overall and that was kind of the test to make sure it covers it, and it has so it has been neutral to us overall. who has the highest minimum wage in the nation, san francisco topped the list with workers making $10.55 an hour and santa fe, new mexico, people are paid $10.51 for minimum wake and now san jose is the third highest in the nation paying workers $10 an hour according to the united states department of labor

to wear red. >>> san jose police have released a sketch of the driver who triggered yesterday's amber alert. the woman is 38 to 45 years old, 5'5", 160-pounds with a dark complexion and dark hair. police say she stole a jeep with this 11 month old girl inside. her mom left the engine running while she was getting ready to leave for work. officers later found the jeep abandoned at an apartment complex with the girls still inside. mom and daughter were reunited. and oakland police release this video of a suspect wanted for trying to kidnap a nine-year- old girl. the young girl played in front of her home on the 1200 block of 94th avenue. the stranger approached her and began to touch her inappropriately. a family member was able to intervene. the man fled and was last seen jumping into a silver 1990s honda civic. police say he is in his late 20s, 5'8" with a black goatee. >> also tonight, an 8-year-old girl from san rafael is recovering from an arrow wound. juliette goodrich on the class field trip that went haywire. >> this isone of the arrows found in the hillside below the lawrenc

, san jose police are investigating that city's 9th homicide of the year that happened around 4:30 this morning. police say that someone called 9-1-1 to report a man was shot. the victim died at the scene. investigators are researching tout neighbors with home security system to see if the shooting was caught on video. >> firefighters in oakland douse add fast-moving house fire near the airport. we remain over the home on hunter avenue near eldorado street. firefighters will sanctioned parts of the road and that is dangerous. the oakland police officers called the fire after spotting heavy shot and flames coming from the home. firefighters got the flames out but the home was damageed. >> happening right now, san jose is now home to the nation's biggest increase in the minimum wage. the bay hike makes minimum wage workers there the third highest in the nation behind san francisco and senator -- santa fe, new mexico. >> sue? >> starting today in san jose you will start seeing a lot more advertising and decals that say "earn and spend in san jose" in the business windows because of

at 8:45 for the public memorial in san jose. as you can see the sheriff deputies are gathering here and the motorcade is expected to be more than a mile long. a tribute to detective sergeant loran "butch" baker and elizabeth butler killed in the line of duty on february 26 by an armed suspect. the officers' flagged drape cassettes were part of a public viewing with hundreds of mourners coming to pay their respects and the officers who protected and served their community for years. >> our first time the local officers have been killed. it is tell. >> i am here to pay respects and it is good thing that people will come down here and support the local police officers. >> public viewing sites are here to view the memorial. kaiser permanente will open at 10:00 a.m. showing the service rise and parking at depot park will be freed. santa cruz fire departments will be staging their hook-and-ladder trucks along all overpasses between santa cruz and san jose. mostly on highway 17 and on highway 85. it should be a moving sight. >> cornell, thank you. the memorial service will be hell at h.p.

to san jose. we are in san grows -- we start with claudine in santa cruz. >> reporter: we are standing at the start of the procession. the folks told to gather here starting about seven this morning and in the last several minutes we have seen activity. take a look to the side of me. you can see three buses that are lined up along this street. they have the santa cruz police emblem on them and a sign. we assume possibly members of the department will ride these buses down the procession. i want to show you what's happening in this parking lot just near the boardwalk here. you can see motor officers starting to line up their motorcycles. they will stage there and then move to the start of the procession. this procession, ready to leave about 8:45 but everybody was told to gather about seven this morning so it'll just get busier. the morning has started in this community. everybody is still trying to dumb to terms with the loss of the two officers. there was a memorial last night at the santa cruz memorial funeral home. just a chance for people, friends, family, strangers to come. there

the suspects could have been linked to an armed robbery in san jose. here's the intersection where the drive-by shooting happened and police were led on a wild chase through three east bay cities late last night. our cameras caught the chase north through 880. police tried to pull the driver other in hayward for dui and reckless driving. but he sped off through san leandro and oakland. the car spun out of control between 580 between harrison and park and police cars slammed into it to box the car in. officers say people were throwing things out on the roadway. they never found the objects but officers did find weapons inside the vehicle when it finally stopped. >> they pursued the vehicle in oakland where it crossed across the center median. the three occupants were taken into custody from there. >> reporter: police believe those three could be tied to a shooting in hayward early yesterday afternoon. a man was driving with his wife and child at tennyson and kalaroga when he was struck by a bullet and taken to the hospital. he's expected to survive. a hayward police officer tweeted around mid

will be set aside today. we will see three mayors coming together, the mayors of santa clara, san jose, and san francisco, promoting the idea of having a super bowl right here in this new same. they are promising a dynamic super bowl where you do not have to worry about electricity. they promise you will thought see a power outage like the super bowl in new orleans. the new stadium will have two new electrical substations and solar panels to provide extra energy. the new stadium is about 30 percent complete. it is set to open next year. it will cost about $1.2 billion to build. it is a finalist to host the 2016 super bowl. it is now between santa clara and south florida. this is the first super bowl here in the bay area since 1985 and 49er owner says the bid committee will present the bid at ownerss' meeting in may when the host city is chosen, so, today the mayors, the c.e.o., all will be showing off the stadium. they will give tours to the media. they will lay out the reasons why the super bowl should be held right here in santa clara. >> thank you. palo alto police have released a s

in 12 minutes. >>> in san jose, police say a young man was stabbed to death. news chopper 2 was over the scene showing us that scene from guadalupe oak grove park during our 5:00 news. police tell us they received a 911 call from the park just before 4:00 this afternoon. officers found a man in his late teens or early 20s with stab wounds and he died at the scene. no one has been arrested and the victim's name has not been released. investigators say this is san jose's 7th homicide of the year. >>> five schools in antioch were locked down today after a teen-ager was shot nearby. it started at about # 40:00 this morning in antioch. police responded to a 911 call about gunshots and later found a 16-year-old boy at a nearby hospital. as a result, police locked down these five campuses for 25 minutes while officers cleared the area. police say the teen was not a student and is expected to make a full recovery. >>> the man charged with overseaing the oakland police force laid out his goals today. paul chambers is live now in oakland where former los angeles police chief bill bretton talke

are investigating san jose's third police shooting of this month. an officer fired on a suspect yesterday afternoon after police say a woman in a stolen car tried to run an officer down. they say the woman reversed the car and hit the officer as he approached the vehicle. the officer then shot her at least once. a man sitting in the passenger seat was injured but it is not clear if he was shot. both went to the hospital but police say they will recover. the for was not seriously injured. abc7 news reporter katie marzullo will have the latest in the next half hour. >> four children, one only 13, led police on a chase down highway 101 yesterday. the three teenage boys and a girl all from san jose are now accused stealing a car and running from police. sky 7 was over seen just as the chase ended in redwood city, the 14-year-old boy behind the wheel started running from police by foster city after they spotted the stolen car. >> people hoping to reduce gun violence are planning ever developments across the country today. today is the national day to demand action, a bay area group is planning to rally
